Ever since I was little, I have loved spending time outside. A native Virginian, I grew up with Shenandoah National Park in my background. I grew up with amazing parents that took me on every camping trip or hike I could go on.
My family never traveled internationally. In fact, I never even flew on a plane until I was 16! I went out of the country to South Africa for the first time when I was 20. This trip blew me away and made me realize how much I love traveling and how much of the world I want to see!
After Cape Town, I wanted to go everywhere, but had the means to go nowhere. I stumbled upon a service trip opportunity to help run a summer camp in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and spent five weeks teaching and exploring a beautiful country.
In the midst of my first international trips, I also fell in love with traveling in the U.S., specifically national parks. My dad and I made a goal of visiting all 63, and during college I went on wonderful trips to some of the most beautiful places in the country.
Eventually, I graduated college and needed an actual job. I complete the Teach for America corps in Houston, Texas. I loved my students and loved my two years in the corps.
After Teach for America, I moved to D.C. Being a teacher is incredibly difficult, but it meant I had plenty of time to travel. Breaks would frequently look like me jetting off, sometimes alone, to a beautiful destination. The post grad trips I have taken have been some of the most beautiful times of my life.
I am not quite sure where this blog will take me. I love writing, and I love sharing my adventures on the internet. At this point in time, most of my life is a big question mark, but I am excited to keep creating!
Thank you SO much for being here. I am excited to see where this adventure goes!
